Jose Mourinho wants Tottenham target Andrea Belotti at AS Roma
According to transfer news from Calciomercato (h/t Express), newly-appointed AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho is keen on signing Andrea Belotti, who is a target for Tottenham Hotspur, in the summer window.
Mourinho was named the manager of AS Roma earlier this month, only a couple of weeks after he was sacked from the Tottenham job. The Portuguese spent seventeen months in charge of Spurs having taken over from Mauricio Pochettino in November 2019.
However, a disappointing run of results since the festive period saw him get booted out with Ryan Mason getting named in charge on an interim basis till the end of the season. Mourinho, though, is set for a swift comeback to management, as he will replace Paulo Fonseca as the Roma manager once the current season is over.
Having returned to Italy, the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ has already begun working on transfer targets for the summer and it seems like he is set to try and poach a player who is on the radars of Tottenham. Indeed, Mourinho has his eyes set on a move for Torino captain Andrea Belotti, who is also on the wishlist of Tottenham Hotspur. (h/t Express)
With Carlos Vinicius’ loan deal unlikely to be converted into a permanent transfer, Tottenham will need another goalscorer in the squad come next season.
Belotti, who has been a top striker in Serie A over the years, is entering the final year of his contract and could be available on a cut-price deal, making him an ideal target. Indeed, the 27-year-old has managed to score more than ten goals in each of the last five Serie A campaigns and has netted 12 times this term as well despite Torino struggling towards the bottom end of the table.

However, Mourinho is also now said to be plotting a swoop for Il Gallo. The report adds that Tottenham’s interest in Belotti was mainly driven by Mourinho and now that he is not at the club anymore, there is a chance that the club hierarchy would end their pursuit of the Italy international, leaving the field clear for Roma to swoop.
