Transfer News: Yves Bissouma asks to leave Brighton & Hove Albion after recent Tottenham Hotspur links

The Times (h/t Daily Mail) reports that Yves Bissouma has asked to leave Brighton and Hove Albion amid interest from several Premier League clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur also interested in him recently.

Yves Bissouma has been linked with a switch to North London and Spurs could use a solid defensive midfielder like him in their side. The Malian international has had a solid season at the AMEX this season which has caught the eye of several Premier League clubs.

Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City are linked with Bissouma, with Liverpool’s interest being the most serious. Jurgen Klopp is eyeing the 24-year-old as a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, whose contract at Anfield runs out this summer. (h/t Daily Mail)

Race for Bissouma

The Gunners are said to be the front-runners in the race to sign him on a £30m deal. Mikel Arteta is in search of a midfield partner for Thomas Partey, who was signed last summer from Atletico Madrid.

But Manchester City’s interest is said to be less serious. City would enter the race for Bissouma after assessing other targets and if Fernandinho does not renew his deal at the Etihad. (h/t Daily Mail)

Since signing from LOSC Lille Metropole for a fee that could exceed £15m, Bissouma has made himself a stellar part of Graham Potter’s midfield. But he now wishes to forward his career, preferring a move to a club that will play in the UEFA Champions League.

That is a big stumbling block for Spurs considering the chances to make the top 4 this season are next to impossible. But so is the case for Liverpool and Arsenal, with both trailing Chelsea and Leicester City on the table by a considerable margin.
