Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur interested in signing Mert Muldur

According to transfer news from Kronen Zeitung (h/t Tribal Football), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Turkish defender Mert Muldur from Serie A side Sassuolo.

Muldur came through the youth ranks at Austrian outfit Rapid Wien and went on to make 47 first-team appearances, in which he scored two goals and set up six more. The 22-year-old was signed by Sassuolo in the summer of 2019 and he has been a fairly regular member of the starting XI for the Neroverdi featuring 54 times till date, with two goals and four assists to show for. Muldur has been capped five times by the Turkish national team as well. And it seems like his exploits with the Serie A outfit have led to interest from Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the summer window. Apart from Spurs, the likes of Napoli and Atalanta are also said to been on signing the 22-year-old. (h/t Tribal Football)

The 22-year-old right-back’s agent, Max Hagmayr, confirmed the interest from clubs in Italy and England during an interview with Kronen Zeitung. (h/t Tribal Football)

“There are always talks with top clubs in Italy and England. But he has never been sold due to the price tag. He feels comfortable here. He has had a very good defensive development. Nowhere else can you develop defensively and tactically as in Italy.”

Tottenham’s interest in Muldur, a right-back, is pretty much self-explanatory given as Matt Doherty has bombed in his debut season with the club while Serge Aurier is being heavily linked with a return to PSG.
