PL club set to beat Tottenham to the signing of talented Championship starlet
Transfer News: Leeds United close to signing Tottenham Hotspur target Amari Miller
According to Daily Telegraph reporter, Mike McGrath (h/t Leeds Live), Tottenham Hotspur transfer target, Amari Miller, is not part of Birmingham City’s pre-season trip to Scotland as he has withdrawn from the squad after completing a move to Leeds United.
The young winger has been linked with various Premier League sides including Spurs, Southampton, as well as Everton. But it appears that he has chosen to join Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United.
The report states that Miller was offered his first professional contract last year and featured 5 times for his club. He has been in contact with the Whites for the past few weeks and is expected to line up for the U23 side next season.
It’s a shame that Spurs could not secure the signature of the exciting 18-year-old Englishman. However, it’s not like they’re in urgent need of wingers and neither would Miller have made the starting XI instantly if he came to N17.
Spurs lose out on Amari Miller
While he could have been a future prospect at Spurs, the Lilywhites should not be fixated on potentially losing out on a teenager. Instead, their focus should towards strengthening the senior team.
A centre-back and perhaps a full-back could boost Spurs’ defence while a striker, regardless of Harry Kane’s future, should be sought to provide competition in that spot.

Gareth Bale had a big part to play in the second half of this season at Spurs, but he was loaned in for the season. Whoever becomes Spurs’ next manager would know that there is a big task at hand of carrying the club back to the top 4.

And for that, signings would be necessary. With Tottenham also in the UEFA Europa Conference League this season, they can expect a loaded fixture list and good squad depth may well be the telling factor in their pursuit of silverware.
