Tottenham tipped to lose to Man City in the race for Yves Bissouma

Former Tottenham midfielder Paul Stewart via football Insider (h/t Football.london) has provided his piece on Yves Bissouma. While the midfielder is not linked to Tottenham, Stewart has always been a massive admirer of him. He suggests that Tottenham should sign Bissouma.

However, he adds that Manchester City would be likely to sign Bissouma. The report advocates that the midfielder has two years remaining on his current contract with Brighton.

On Bissouma

Brighton signed Bissouma in 2018. Since joining, the 24-year-old midfielder has gone on to make 86 appearances for the Seagulls in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old has been nothing but impressive for Brighton. Due to his performances, The Sun reported that both Manchester City and Liverpool are interested in him. Jurgen Klopp views Bissouma as a potential Georginio Wijnaldum replacement.

Do Tottenham need Yves Bissouma?

Spurs seem to have enough depth in the midfield area. Tottenham’s current midfield core includes Dele Alli, Tanguy Ndombele, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Giovani Lo Celso, Oliver Skipp, Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko.

Hence, it could be difficult to make a case for Yves Bissouma. However, Football.london reports that the North London club are keen on strengthening their midfield.

Winks was not favoured by Jose Mourinho. Dele Alli’s case has been similar. The Times ((subscription required) have even linked midfielder Moussa Sissoko with a Tottenham exit.

Looking at the above cases, and a decent argument could be made for Bissouma. Hence, it would not be a bad deal if Tottenham follow Paul Stewart’s advice and sign Yves Bissouma.
