Nuno Espirito Santo yet to speak with Harry Kane over Tottenham future

According to ESPN, Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo is yet to speak to Harry Kane over his future. He spoke about the problem Spurs are having with Kane and that it would need to be solved soon with the player missing preseason games and training.

Spurs secured a 2-2 draw in their preseason friendly against Chelsea. However, it was the future of Harry Kane that clouded the pre and post-match discussions. The talismanic striker is yet to rejoin the side after his post-Euros holiday and has missed training since Monday. He is currently scheduled to be back on the weekend provided he tests negative for COVID.

Harry Kane has caused quite the furore at Spurs with his absence. He has made it clear that he wants to leave the club and that there’s an agreement with Daniel Levy that will allow him to do so. The club has rebuffed any such claim and want to keep him despite the interest from Manchester City. Kane is valued at £150million by Spurs.

Post the Chelsea draw, Nuno Espirito Santo had to face questions over Kane’s future. He did respond to the same and mentioned that the problem needs to be sorted out.

“It is not that I don’t want to comment — all this issue related to Harry, I believe we should discuss internally among us and try to avoid any kind of public argument or discussion about it. Us, we have to focus on what is important. We have to solve the situation but first between us. We solve the situation internally with the club. Speaking and trying to reach a better solution and conclusion to this situation.”

On being asked if he had spoken with Kane, he added:

“The answer I will give you is I expect to speak with Harry soon and I haven’t had the chance yet. Anything in relation to Harry is internal so first of all we have to first of all solve the problems ourselves and then I will speak with you.”

As a manager at a new club, this is not the way Nuno might have wanted things to go. After all, no manager would want to operate without the club’s best player. Kane future could be resolved over the weekend when he returns. Nuno will be hoping it’s a resolution where he can have Kane leading the line for him when the season starts.
