Transfer News: Newcastle interested in Tottenham Hotspur’s Oliver Skipp

According to transfer news from Mail Online (h/t Chronicle Live), Newcastle have shown interest in the highly-rated Oliver Skipp. They are among several clubs that want the Spurs midfielder. Norwich are also keen on another loan spell after last season. However, no decision has been made over his future as of now.

Skipp, 20, is a product of the Tottenham Hotspur youth academy. Widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects to have come through the ranks in recent times, the central midfielder made his first-team debut back in 2018 and has gone on to make 23 appearances for the senior team.

Last summer saw Skipp being sent out on loan to Norwich City. And the move paid off big time as the Englishman established himself as a permanent fixture in the middle of the park for the Canaries. Indeed, Skipp played a key role in Daniel Farke’s side winning the EFL Championship and earning promotion back to the Premier League.

The talented midfielder is currently back at Spurs but his future is yet to be sorted. It is unclear whether Nuno Espirito Santo wants him to be a part of the first team. Nonetheless, Skipp has been the subject of interest from a few Premier League clubs with Newcastle said to be after him. There is also Norwich who have expressed interest in another loan.

Another loan deal might not entirely be a bad idea given that Spurs have a good number of midfielders at their disposal. Although, the argument can be made that he can fit in well at Spurs itself. With interest in the player, it will be one to watch as to whether Spurs allow him to go on another loan or keep him.
