Nuno issues injury update on Son and Romero after Tottenham beat Wolves

Speaking after his team’s 1-0 win against Wolves (h/t football.london), Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo has provided an update on the fitness conditions of Son Heung-min and Cristian Romero.

Tottenham made it two wins in two games in the Premier League, beating Wolves 1-0 at the Molineux, courtesy of a Dele Alli penalty in the first half. It was far from a convincing display from the Lilywhites, but the team showed great resilience to hold on to the narrow win and bag another crucial victory.

However, there were some concerns emerging after the contest as key forward Son Heung-min was spotted walking gingerly post the game. Asked if the South Korean international was feeling alright, the manager said:

“I’m sorry I cannot answer that. For now he’s alright. In the warm-up he had a strange feeling but he was ok to play. I don’t know. Let’s assess him. I didn’t realise. I’m sorry.”

Nuno was also asked for an update on summer signing Cristian Romero. The Argentine defender, who featured in the midweek defeat to Pacos de Ferreira, was not part of the matchday squad on Sunday evening. Explaining his absence, Nuno confirmed that it was because of an injury he picked up in training.

“When he finished the game in Pacos he was ok but yesterday in the training session he didn’t feel totally comfortable, so we decided not to bring him. He’s getting treatment now and I think he’s going to be better soon.”

With the second leg against Pacos de Ferreira coming up in a few days, Nuno will be hoping that Son’s situation is nothing serious while he would also be aiming to have Romero back for the clash.
