Tottenham star Son Heung-Min doubtful for Crystal Palace clash

According to The Athletic (subscription required), Son Heung-Min is a doubt for Tottenham when they take on Crystal Palace. Nuno Espirito Santo gave a vague idea of the injury but was still in the dark over its severity. He added that it will need to be assessed by the medical staff and only then the club will announce it.

When the top scorer of your side in the league gets injured during an international break, there are chances that one will start panicking just that little bit. Son was in action for South Korea in the Asian WC Qualifiers. However, a calf strain meant that he would not play a part in the game against Lebanon.

Manager Paulo Bento gave a brief on the injury.

“He felt some pain on Saturday and after that he tried to train again on Monday. He felt again some discomfort. We decided that the best decision was that he doesn’t play.”

However, it was still rather unclear how severe the injury was. Nuno Espirito Santo spoke about the issue in the presser ahead of the Palace game. From what he said, it was vague and sounded rather worrying. That makes him a potential doubt for the game on the weekend. He went on to add that it was not clear whether the injury was serious or not.

“Like some of our players he came with issues. Sonny is not so well. Let’s wait for the club to make the announcement. I don’t know. Let’s wait and see. The doctors will make the analysis.”

This could be a real blow to the side just when they are starting to pick up some pace. Son has scored the winner in two of the three games and was their chief attacking threat for Spurs. The bigger worry is getting the 29-year-old fit in time for the Chelsea game. Without him, Spurs are a weaker side and Nuno will have to find some solutions.
