Graham Roberts backs Joe Rodon of Tottenham Hotspur to join Leeds United or Burnley on loan

Speaking to This is Futbol (h/t Burnley Express), Graham Roberts has suggested Joe Rodon leave Tottenham Hotspur on loan to turn things around. The Welshman is currently out of favour and has struggled to earn game time.

The centre-back was signed from Swansea City in 2020 for £11m excluding add-ons. Following the transfer, he has played just 19 games in all competitions.

This season, he has garnered just 349 minutes of action and a majority of his minutes have come in the UEFA Conference League. He is yet to feature under Antonio Conte and will hope to get a chance in the match against NS Mura tomorrow.

Former Spurs defender Roberts has conveyed that he would like to see the Welshman join Leeds United or Burnley on a loan deal. With minutes hard to come by, it is understandable why he has made that suggestion.

What’s intriguing is that the 24-year-old has been vital for his national team in the qualifiers for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. He has delivered several match-winning performances for them even when he was sidelined at Spurs.

Thankfully, Conte has revealed that he will make rotations to the team tomorrow as he would like to look at the rest of the squad. The centre-back could get his first chance to show his abilities and claw his way back into the team.

Many believed that Harry Winks would not make it under the Italian but, he proved them wrong after the stunning second-half performance against Leeds United in the previous match. He even earned praises from his boss, which could earn him a lifeline at the club.

With Cristian Romero looking at a spell on the sidelines, Rodon could find opportunities easier to come by in the coming weeks. With a jam-packed schedule in December, squad management will be key.

Opportunities may prove easier for Rodon to come by and it is up to him whether they get taken or not.
