Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane praises manager Antonio Conte after FA Cup win

Speaking after the FA Cup win over Brighton and Hove Albion last night (h/t football.london), Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane sang manager Antonio Conte‘s praises and hailed his influence at the club.

Conte took over at Spurs mid-season after the club sacked his predecessor Nuno Espirito Santo, after a run of poor results and underwhelming performances. Since the Italian has stepped into the dugout, the Lilywhites have seen an upturn in form and players’ displays.

Kane is one of the many players to have benefitted from Conte’s arrival, after starting the season poorly. He praised the Italian for his methods in training which has seen the side perform well in matches.

“We’re working really hard on the training pitch and seeing the results out there on match days. So, that’s all the player’s can ask for. Keep working hard on and off the pitch and hopefully we can keep this momentum going.”

Last night’s 3-1 win over Brighton in the FA Cup saw yet another brilliant outing from Kane, with the England skipper scoring a double and helping his side seal a victory that takes them into the next round of the domestic competition.

Kane impressed with Conte

This season, the 28-year-old has found it hard to score goals and recreate the same form that we all know and expect from him, having seen him consistently deliver for the club over the years. It is only since the end of last year that we have seen glimpses of the old Kane in action, and last night’s brace was a further indication of the player getting back to his best.

Conte seems to have rubbed off on a lot of players since the club appointed him as manager this campaign, and Kane has credited the former Inter Milan boss for changing the mindset of the team to help them perform to their best.

“He’s been brilliant. I can’t speak highly enough of him. As a coach as a person, he’s really changed the mindset of a lot of players in the team.”

The win over Brighton would have pleased many fans, as Spurs bounced back from their disappointing loss against Chelsea in the league to rack up a comfortable win in the FA Cup that sees them take one step closer to a trophy. The first match after the first international break of the year also saw debuts handed to new signings Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Kane’s performance would also come as good news for fans as well as Conte, who have struggled to find a regular goalscoring outlet this season with the England international’s patchy form of late. However, the striker seems to be getting back to his usual form, and this will only benefit us as we enter the second half of the season.

The forward’s praises of Conte are completely deserved, with the Italian coming in and quickly turning things around for a club that was struggling when Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge. Since then, the new manager has implemented his game-winning philosophy and tactics as the Lilywhites’ boss, which has seen them turn out to be a solid side capable of competing for silverware.

Conte has won wherever he has managed, and the serial winner’s appointment at Spurs was an indication by the club that they mean serious business when it comes to winning trophies. With last night’s win, Conte has taken the team a step closer to winning the FA Cup, which is very well ours for the taking if we continue to impress and perform as we did against Brighton.
