Tottenham Hotspur dealt blow as Juventus plot permanent transfer for Atletico Madrid star Alvaro Morata

According to the Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t The Sun), Tottenham Hotspur have received a blow as Juventus are setting up to finalise a permanent transfer for Atletico Madrid star Alvaro Morata. He has enjoyed a turnaround at Turin following Dusan Vlahovic’s arrival in January.

Antonio Conte is keen to sign Morata after losing out on Adama Traore to Barcelona in the winter transfer window. With his current deal set to enter the final year this summer, Atletico could be willing to part ways with him so as not to lose him for free in the future.

Juve are looking to renegotiate the buy option they had initially agreed with Atleti. The Serie A club want to sign the 29-year-old permanently but are not willing to spend £29.1million in transfer fees. The Spanish club’s stance on the matter is still unknown so let’s wait and see how this situation develops in the future.

Last chance saloon?

The Spaniard has quickly made a great partnership with Vlahovic at Allianz Stadium. The latter has taken the pressure associated with scoring goals from his head which helped him to perform to his best. Perhaps, that could probably be the reason why the Bianconeri are willing to sign him permanently moving forward.

According to Sport via The Sun, what makes things worse is that the Atleti loanee has agreed to stay with Massimiliano Allegri with his current loan deal expiring only in 2023, Since the Italian side are looking to renegotiate at this moment, we still have a chance to sign him after all.

That means we would need to price out the Italian club to get our hands on the former Real Madrid man. That being said, we must also keep an eye on Arsenal since they are also interested in securing his signature, according to Tuttomercato via The Sun.

Arsenal are also interested in signing Alvaro Morata.

The lack of a backup option to Harry Kane has really put in some trouble throughout this season. We could not properly rest Kane multiple times this term, which has, in turn, affected his performances as well. Morata could be a great second choice option, considering how he thrives when there is no pressure on him.

After all, the Colchoneros loanee has scored eight goals and seven assists this campaign, with his performances taking a boost recently. The presence of England captain in the squad could help take the spotlight from him and help him thrive in the future.

Who knows, Conte could even try to replicate what he did with Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez at Inter Milan. Morata has prior experience working with the Spurs boss, so we cannot rule out that possibility at all. For that to happen, we must wait and see how Atletico responds to Allegri’s side’s plan to renegotiate the terms.
