Tottenham Hotspur target Daniel James joins Fulham from Leeds United on deadline day

Fulham have announced the signing of Daniel James on their official Twitter account. Tottenham Hotspur were also interested in the Leeds United forward, according to the Evening Standard (h/t Express).

James joins the West London side on loan. The 24-year-old had been identified as a target by Tottenham this summer. However, the North London side missed out on the Welshman’s signature.

Antonio Conte’s side attempted a deadline day move for James from Leeds. The Elland Road side had given the forward the go-ahead for a move away from West Yorkshire.

James joined Leeds last summer from Manchester United. The Welshman played a key role for the Peacocks. Having been marred by injuries, the Whites had to rely on the likes of the 24-year-old, who was deployed as a centre-forward on occasions.

The new campaign has seen James feature in the last four games. However, he started just two Premier League games for Jesse Marsch.

Tottenham have a host of talent to count on in attack. Son Heung-min ended last season as the joint winner of the PL Golden Boot. While the South Korean has not started the season in a similar vein, Conte has had the option to bring on Richarlison to make an impact.

The Brazilian arrived from Everton this summer. The 25-year-old has made a difference when he has come on as a substitute. Richarlison is a number nine but is capable of playing in any position up front.

Fans feel the side finally have a decent backup in case Harry Kane is unavailable. The England international has been leading our line for years now. He recently scored his 250th goal in a Tottenham shirt with his strike against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
