January move to Tottenham Hotspur on the cards for Sporting CP right-back Pedro Porro
Tottenham Hotspur could make a move in the January transfer window for Sporting CP wing-back Pedro Porro, as per Portuguese outlet A Bola via SportWitness (h/t Football.London).
Porro signed for Sporting from Manchester City just this summer but only penned a three-year long deal (Transfermarkt). A move midway through the season would certainly be beneficial for the Lilywhites.
It would be a way to solidify the team in the one position where it can use an upgrade alongside the centre-back positions. Moreover, it would be a good way to show manager Antonio Conte that the board backs him.
Spurs left it late in the last January transfer window with the signings of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski. This double signing helped Spurs in their top-four finish last campaign.
Keep pushing
Having set such a good precedent, Spurs fans would be expecting a similar impact from the January transfer window this time around. It remains to be seen, however, if the Liga NOS outfit let one of their star players leave in such a manner.
The 23-year-old has scored once and assisted nine goals in 20 goals across competitions for his new club. Sporting play with a similar wing-back system as we do.
And the Spaniard is flourishing down the right-hand side for them. It would also be wise for Tottenham to start planning about an exit in that position before signing another right wing-back.
