Malachi Fagan-Walcott failed to join Swindon Town from Tottenham Hotspur in January due to late paperwork
20-year-old Tottenham Hotspur defender Malachi Fagan-Walcott missed out on a move to Swindon Town because the two teams could not complete the paperwork in time.
The teams missed out on the 11pm deadline on transfer deadline day. They had reached an agreement to complete Fagan-Walcott’s permanent move to the League Two side.
But it fell through, according to Football Insider. The centre-back has only ever played one senior game for us and has been playing youth football for the majority of his career at N17.
He has been on our books for the entirety of his youth career. Given he was nearing a move to League Two, it indicates that the player isn’t thought of as first-team material right now or in the near future.
He should be on his way out this summer
Swindon are currently sixth in League Two and are gunning for promotion to the third tier. We’ve had young defenders here who have struggled to make a reputation under manager Antonio Conte.
Japhet Tanganga, Davinson Sanchez, and Joe Rodon are in the same boat. If Fagan-Walcott isn’t good enough right now, make no mistake the Italian tactician will not hesitate to offload him.
Hopefully, the youngster doesn’t miss out on much this season and continues to be an important part of our youth teams. And then, fans would love to see him leave for a club where he can play regular football.
