Barcelona president quashes Ansu Fati exit rumours amidst Tottenham interest

Barcelona President, Joan Laporta, has quashed rumours surrounding the possible departure of young sensation Ansu Fati amidst interest from many clubs.

The player has been linked with a move away from the Catalan club in recent weeks, with Tottenham Hotspur among the teams said to be showing an interest. However, Laporta has reassured fans that there are currently no plans to sell the player.

Fati has been one of the standout performers for Barcelona since his debut, establishing himself as a key figure in the team’s attack. However, unfortunate injuries have seen him stagnate somewhat in recent times.

His impressive displays have caught the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Tottenham. Fati is not getting enough chances at Barcelona this campaign and would likely want to play more.

However, Laporta is determined to keep hold of the player, who he sees as an integral part of the club’s future. Speaking about the rumours surrounding Fati’s future as quoted by popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Laporta said

“We are not thinking of selling Ansu Fati as of now, he’s loved here.”

He went on to add that while he cannot predict the future, the club is not currently considering selling the player.

He went on to add that while he cannot predict the future, the club is not currently considering selling the player whilst confirming that there was interest in the prodigious Spaniard.

“His agent told us there are clubs keen on signing Ansu Fati, yes. It is clear that he wants to succeed here at Barça”

Laporta’s comments are likely to be a major blow for Tottenham, who had been hoping to add the talented forward to their ranks. However, it might actually be a blessing in disguise if Fati doesn’t come here.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

One of Fati’s biggest issues is his adaptability to the physicality of football and on all grounds, the English league is much more intense than the Spanish league. A Fati who is struggling in Spain might not thrive in England after all.

Fati is not the kind of signing that Antonio Conte is known to make. Hence, this interest might be merely surface level and has already been quashed by Laporta. This should settle things soon.
