Tottenham and Arsenal interested in Montpellier striker Elye Wahi
According to the Sun, Arsenal and Tottenham have their eyes set on Montpellier’s 20-year-old Elye Wahi.
Wahi has been in fine form this season, scoring eight goals in 21 Ligue 1 games. His impressive performances have caught the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Borussia Dortmund.
Tottenham, in particular, have been linked with Wahi before, back in 2017 when he was just 14 years old. At the time, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Southampton were all also interested in the young striker.
Now, with Wahi’s development in full swing, Tottenham is reportedly keen to make a move for the France U21 international. They will have to contend with their north London rivals Arsenal, who are also interested in the young striker.
For Tottenham, the need for a new striker is apparent. Harry Kane is the club’s top scorer and talisman but his future at the club is still not certain and Tottenham would want to prepare for the future just in case.
Wahi’s potential arrival could provide Tottenham with the perfect solution. At just 20 years old, Wahi has already shown a great deal of promise, and he could develop into an excellent striker under the tutelage of Antonio Conte.
Tottenham will have to act fast if they want to secure Wahi’s services. Borussia Dortmund has also expressed an interest in the young striker, and they are known for their ability to develop young talent.
Wahi is still very young. He has a huge future in the game and the early promise is appealing. However, only time will tell if the Frenchman develops into the player we expect him to become.
