Antonio Conte gives the latest Tottenham Hotspur injury news for Southampton tie

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has confirmed his side doesn’t have any fresh injury issues ahead of their Premier League clash against Southampton on 18 March at St. Mary’s.

The Lilywhites are without long-term absentees Ryan Sessegnon, Hugo Lloris, Rodrigo Bentancur (out for the season) and Yves Bissouma going into this game. This means they are sure-shot absentees for the Saints clash.

But apart from that, we have nothing new to worry about on the injury front. Speaking at his latest pre-match presser, Conte stated (h/t Football.London):

“No news. No new injuries. You know Sessegnon, Bentancur, Lloris, Bissouma injured. Another training session still, fingers crossed nothing more.”

Good news for Spurs

That’s great news. Of course, there is another training session we will have to ride out before the game against Southampton but it’s good to know the squad is largely fit.

Bissouma and Sessegnon haven’t anyway been regular first-team starters. Moreover, we have Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr to choose from when we decided on who partners Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg against his ex-club.

Lloris’ injury is, of course, a blow for us ever since he was sidelined with a ligament issue in our 1-0 league win against Manchester United in early February. But Fraser Forster has stepped up and done surprisingly well between the sticks.

This is an important game for us. All of the remaining 11 league games are in the top-four race. We gained an important advantage over Liverpool last weekend when they lost and we beat Nottingham Forest.

It would mean next to nothing if we drop points this weekend. We have 48 points from 27 games, while Liverpool have 42 from 26. Newcastle United are still realistic contenders and have 44 points from 25 games so far.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Injuries or not, there is no excuse to lose to Southampton or even drop points. We have enough firepower across the board to beat the bottom-placed side in the league table.
