Harry Winks clarifies Tottenham Hotspur ‘no contact’ claims
Harry Winks took to Instagram stories as quoted by Football. London to clarify the comments he made saying no one from Tottenham Hotspur has been in contact with him during his time at Sampdoria.
Winks came out to the Italian media a few days ago to say that his parent club have not been in touch with him during his loan spell and this sparked some controversy amidst the Tottenham fanbase.
Now, the English midfielder has explained that what he meant by contact was the fact that the club are yet to talk to him about what the future holds for him and the club upon conclusion of the loan spell.
Winks was loaned out to Sampdoria in the Serie A at the beginning of the season after it became increasingly evident that he was not in Antonio Conte’s plans after the addition of the likes of Yves Bissouma.
Speaking about his comments, here is what Winks had to say regarding what he meant by ‘no contact’
“I just wanted to clarify that my comments about no contact from Spurs were in regards to plans for next season. There are still plenty of games left this season for both and Spurs and this has to be the full focus for both”
What does the future hold for Winks?
The English midfielder had a horror time during his first few months in the Italian league but has eventually recovered from his injury issues and is finally showing his quality for the struggling Serie A side.
Ideally, Tottenham would have wanted to sell Harry Winks permanently and move on from him. However, there is a small glimmer of hope that he could be of use here as there could be a managerial change at N17.
What the new manager thinks of Winks is something that we will never know. He might choose to integrate him into his plans. After all, no one is doubting the quality that the English midfielder brings to the table.
All this said though, it is still a very unlikely probability of that happening. Tottenham have enough and more midfielders in the squad but to be fair to Winks, he could be the most creative one we have.

Winks has been at Spurs all his life. If it is meant to be, he might get a chance to redeem himself at N17. Right now though, let’s hope he can continue impressing for Sampdoria.
