Tottenham add Zinedine Zidane to managerial shortlist
According to Sky Sports Italia, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering adding former Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, to their list of potential candidates for the managerial role at the club.
Conte, who took over the team in November 2019, resigned from the club by mutual consent after a scathing tirade on the players and organisation following their 3-3 draw with Southampton prior to the break.
Many names have been put up as potential managers while the team looks for a replacement. The latest one to join the list is coveted former French midfield maestro and Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.
Tottenham has appointed Cristian Stellini as caretaker manager until the end of the season, giving the club time to find a long-term replacement. However, the focus remains on finding a permanent replacement.
The 50-year-old Frenchman has been out of work since leaving Real Madrid for the second time at the end of the 2020/21 season. Zidane has a successful record as a manager, having won three consecutive Champions League titles during his first spell in charge of Real Madrid.
Although he was previously rumoured to be holding out for the France job, Zidane’s hopes of taking over as the national team’s manager were dashed after Didier Deschamps penned a new deal to keep him in the job until 2026.
Zidane left Real Madrid, but his stellar track record as a manager has kept him in the public eye, and several elite clubs are eager to hire him. The newest team to make an attempt to entice him back into the realm of football management maybe Tottenham.
Julian Nagelsmann, a former manager of Bayern Munich, and Luis Enrique, a former head coach of Barcelona, are two more names who have been mentioned in connection with the managerial position at Spurs. Moreover, Mauricio Pochettino, the previous manager of Tottenham, is said to be considering a stunning comeback to the team.
