Barcelona set Franck Kessie asking price amidst Tottenham interest

According to Spanish publication AS, Barcelona have set the asking price for Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessie with Tottenham said to be interested in him.

Kessie, who only arrived at Barcelona last summer, has impressed in La Liga and has caught the eye of several top-flight clubs, including Tottenham. He has slowly yet surely settled into Xavi’s team.

The Ivorian midfielder represents a viable option for several teams looking to strengthen in the summer transfer window, and Tottenham have been keen on him for some time. The North London outfit had previously discussed a deal with Barcelona for Kessie in January, but the player had no interest in leaving Camp Nou.

However, it seems that Kessie’s future at Barcelona is now uncertain, with the club setting an asking price for the midfielder amidst interest from Tottenham. The Blaugrana have reportedly told interested parties that they will consider bids of €25-30m.

Despite Kessie’s slow start to life in Spain, Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez has given the midfielder a more prominent role in the team in recent weeks, and the player has responded with improved performances.

The Spurs hierarchy had hoped that Antonio Conte would be the man to bring Kessie to North London, but the Italian’s dismissal in March has not dampened the club’s interest in the midfielder.

However, Tottenham are not the only club vying for Kessie’s signature, with several top-flight teams reportedly interested in the player. Kessie’s impressive performances for AC Milan prior to his move to Barcelona have made him a highly sought-after player.

For Barcelona, the sale of Kessie would represent a significant profit, and the club is under pressure to balance its books. While Xavi Hernandez rates the midfielder highly, the Blaugrana are not in a position to turn down a substantial offer for Kessie’s services.
