Inter Milan want Tottenham Hotspur target Clement Lenglet

According to Spanish publication Sport, Inter Milan want to sign Tottenham Hotspur target Clement Lenglet from Barcelona and have registered interest in him.

Lenglet joined Spurs in the summer on a season-long loan deal, with hopes that he would help shore up the Lilywhites’ defensive frailties. However, it has been a challenging season for the whole team.

Lenglet has not been able to showcase the kind of abilities that would get fans excited about him remaining at the club long-term. However, he has not been appalling either and has done a decent job.

With 30 appearances in all competitions, Lenglet has only scored one goal and contributed two assists. Tottenham may be keen to secure his services on a permanent basis, with Barcelona also reportedly pushing for the Frenchman to stay in England.

However, Tottenham now face a challenge from Italian giants Inter Milan, who are looking to strengthen their defence. Despite Inter’s interest, it seems Spurs are still in pole position to secure Lenglet’s signature. Inter are reportedly looking to sign two defenders at the end of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur fans may have mixed feelings about the possibility of Lenglet joining the club permanently. While his performances this season have not been exceptional, he has shown glimpses of the talent that convinced Barcelona to sign him in the first place.

At just 27 years old, he still has plenty of time to improve and develop his game further. If Lenglet were to sign for Tottenham, he would be joining a team that is in transition. Spurs have struggled to find consistency this season, with defensive issues being just one of their problems.

However, there are reasons for optimism. Tottenham are set to appoint a new manager ahead of next season. The new face will be tasked with leading the club to glory and let’s see how that goes.

We must wait until the new manager takes over to sign Lenglet. If he wants the Frenchman, then this makes sense. Otherwise, it could be yet another player that the club will have to offload.
