Xabi Alonso rules out taking over Tottenham Hotspur in the summer
As revealed by Fabrizio Romano via Twitter, Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has rejected any notion that he is set to take over at Tottenham Hotspur.
The North Londoners are in the market for a permanent manager after parting ways with Antonio Conte. Ryan Mason is the interim manager but it is highly unlikely that he will be given the job full-time.
Daniel Levy has to get his appointment right and Alonso was one of the names in the fray. The Spaniard has done a wonderful job at Bayer Leverkusen and is steadily rising up the ranks.

One of the finest to ever don the Spanish jersey, Alonso is an accomplished player who has won several trophies with Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. He is now proving himself to be a resourceful tactician.
He replaced Gerardo Seoane at the BayArena and has since transformed Leverkusen’s fortunes. The Bundesliga team is sixth in the league while also preparing to face AS Roma in the UEFA Europa League semifinals.
Despite not yet completing a full season in charge, Tottenham has been touted as a potential destination. However, Alonso has refuted those claims and has revealed that he will stay put at Leverkusen next season.
“My head is also 100 percent here for next season”
His revelation will come as a blessing for Leverkusen who have a young promising squad at their disposal. For us, however, the search now goes on.

Alonso is an interesting option but needs to show he can work his magic on a regular basis. The likes of Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique present better alternatives and could be the way to go. Tottenham have largely caught themselves in a loop since the exit of Mauricio Pochettino and it is high time we got it right.
