Ange Postecoglou does not expect Alejo Veliz to get much game time at Tottenham in the first half of the season

Speaking in an interview as quoted by popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has said that it would take new signing Alejo Veliz some time before he is ready for minutes in the senior team.

Veliz is a young Argentinian forward who Tottenham signed this summer from Rosario Central and with the exit of Harry Kane, there were talks of him being fast-tracked into the first-team setup.

It is a sad day today for all Tottenham fans as our talismanic striker Kane left the club officially to join Bayern Munich. However, we move on and now our priority would be to find a replacement for the Englishman.

Yes, there is the in-house option of betting on Richarlison. The Brazilian striker plays very well for the Brazilian national team in that position and Ange Postecoglou might benefit from betting on him.

However, the exit of Kane has set the cat among the pigeons when it comes to a new striker. There is no doubt that Tottenham will look to scourge the market and try and replace the English superstar.

19-year-old Alejo Veliz might suddenly find himself in a much better position to get a few minutes in the Tottenham first team than when Kane was there. However, Postecoglou thinks it will take some time for him to get ready.

Speaking about the prodigious Argentinian talent, here is what the Australian manager had to say

“It will take a while for him — we’ve just got to let him settle. He’s a young guy, it’s a fairly different level. He’s one we’re all invested in for the long term, but I wouldn’t expect him to see any minutes over the first part of the season”

Veliz has had a breakthrough couple of seasons with Rosario Central. 11 league goals in 23 appearances so far has obviously caught the attention of Tottenham and he represents a signing for the future.

Throwing a youngster into the deep end of the pool might be detrimental to his confidence and self-belief and unless he is ready to play for the first team, we must wait for him to develop on the sidelines.
