Tottenham legend Terry Naylor is glad to see Cristian Romero develop

Tottenham Hotspur veteran Terry Naylor expresses his delight at Cristian Romero‘s growth while speaking to The Spurs Show podcast. Naylor shared his opinion on the Argentine steady growth after a shaky start in North London. He said:

“Romero, I’ve been waiting for him, as a defender I love a defensive player, I’m thinking ‘come on, show them what they’re doing wrong, you’re not doing it, you’re not doing it’. That was over the first sort of six games, now, Romero, other than getting sent off, he looks different class.”

While the Spurs legend appreciated Romero’s development as an individual, he did make a slight point about the latter’s recklessness on the pitch. Apart from Romero, Terry Naylor also spoke highly of Heung-min Son and Micky van de Ven.

Tottenham Hotspur have been a force to reckon with while having Micky and Romero guarding their defence. Terry Naylor, who has played nearly 250 games for the Spurs, resonates with a million Spurs fans who acknowledge Romero’s growth.

Romero — not alone but supported

Cristian Romero arrived in North London as a strong but volatile youngster. He did find a permanent spot right away but it was evident that the Argentine needed a lot of polishing. His return as a World Cup winner coincided with Ange Postecoglou’s arrival.

The Australian coach transformed the way Romero approached the opponent by pairing him with another youngster, Micky van de Ven. The duo share a fine synergy that has helped their club on numerous occasions.

The absence of the duo left the club in trouble for a brief period. Ange Postecoglou’s side will not focus their attentions on the Premier League following the FA Cup Fourth Round exit against Manchester City last night.

Having their solid center backs back in form and full fitness is a major positive sign for the Spurs ultras. Romero has developed himself into a formidable force and Ange Postecoglou’s guidance and Micky’s partnership have a huge role to play in it.
