Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou terms Manager of the Year gong as ‘weird’
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou recently shared his thoughts on winning the Manager of the Year award at the London Football Awards, expressing a blend of pride and reflection on the achievement. Despite acknowledging the recognition with gratitude, he also remarked on the timing of the award in February, considering it a bit unusual in the context of the ongoing football season.
For Postecoglou, the Manager of the Year accolade represents more than just personal recognition; it serves as a testament to the collective efforts and progress made by the team since the start of the season. The award reflects the transformation and impact Tottenham has undergone under his leadership, particularly following a disappointing previous season where it seemed like we Conte win anything. As the manager, he understands the significance of such recognition in motivating and galvanizing the team towards further success. Speaking of the award, here is what Ange had to say via Football London:
“I said last night that it’s a bit weird, it’s only February, just into March, and I’m not really sure where that fits in terms of recognition. Having said that it is an acknowledgement of the work we’ve done since the start of the season, on the back of a disappointing year last year, so I guess we as a group made an impact.”
“It’s an acknowledgement of that so I need to appreciate that and feel honoured that that award, for want of a better word, was bestowed upon me, but we’ve still got a fair chunk of the season to go and our sights are firmly set ahead.”
Winning the Manager of the Year award undoubtedly instilled a sense of pride in Postecoglou. It validated the hard work, dedication, and tactical acumen he has brought to the club since his appointment. Despite the award’s timing in February, which he described as “weird,” Postecoglou emphasised its importance in acknowledging Tottenham’s resurgence and positive trajectory under his stewardship.
