Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou talks about the ‘AngeBall’ nickname

From the defensive style of football under Antonio Conte last season to the heavy metal style of play under Ange Postecoglou this season, Tottenham have surely grown twofold. Attacking football is the way to go, and if we manage to sustain this style of play, limiting the number of injuries in our squad, we can surely fight for silverware of the highest order.

Currently fifth on the Premier League charts, Tottenham are five points below Aston Villa who have played a game more than us. A string of strong and consistent performances from now on will all but confirm a fourth-placed finish. While AngeBall can finish better, the sheer difference in points is too much to cover from this point onwards. Speaking to ESPN, here is what Ange had to say about the nickname:

“It is better than what they could have come up with,”

“It is what it is.”

Now, while some may scoff at the notion of AngeBall, dismissing it as mere hyperbole or media sensationalism, our gaffer takes it all in stride.

AngeBall

The nickname reflects the dynamic and energetic approach that Tottenham has adopted under his guidance, characterised by fluid passing, movement off the ball, and a relentless pursuit of goals.

Postecoglou‘s impact on Tottenham has been transformative, revitalizing a team that had previously struggled to find its identity. His emphasis on attacking football has injected a sense of excitement and optimism among fans, who are eager to see their team compete at the highest level and challenge for silverware.

At the end of the day though, beautiful football does not guarantee you trophies. Success in football is determined by goals, and how consistent a team is in their world-class performances. Despite the recognition of good football, we also need to add to stability and get people to call Tottenham winners instead of good football players.
