Tottenham Hotspur would bid farewell to White Hart Lane come to the end of the campaign. And it’s all for good reasons, to ensure their new stadium gets ready on time.

The construction work kick started on the ground last year. Despite a mountain of workload left to be done, the aim is to get their new home ready for the 2018/19 season. The stadium was initially planned for 56,250 spectators yet after close scrutiny over the blueprint, it’s now increased to approximately 61,000. That’s a whopping amount, considering their current capacity of 36,000.

Over the years, London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal have relished more crowd enthusiasm, with 41,631 and 60,432 seats respectively. However, unlike the Gunners, who turned their previous home Highbury to ‘Highbury Square’ – two and three bedroom penthouses and apartments, the Lilywhites have preferred to remain at the same spot and stretch their development to greater heights.

Known as the Northumberland Development Project, this is a multifaceted stadium project. The mammoth plan also includes an extreme sports facility, health centre, homes, hotel, a Spurs museum and club shop named “Tottenham Experience” and the already ready Lilywhite House, which comprises a university technical college, supermarket and new club administration buildings. Therefore, after 90 minutes of football, there is a handful of activities for the supporters to get involved with.

The club’s official Twitter account has shared the updated aerial pictures of the progress of the much-anticipated stadium. At present, the builders are only working on a morsel of White Hart Lane Stadium, however, once the season is wrapped up, it would be demolished for full execution. Even the early stage photos have got the fans’ salivary glands to rumble right away with a visualisation of how their home would look like in 18 months. And yes, the club’s faithful have taken Twitter to express their euphoria too.

Followed by the fans:

While construction work goes on, the London club will commence their 2017/18 campaign at Wembley Stadium. Spurs have played in the national stadium this term for the Champions League fixtures. Mauricio Pochettino’s men were greatly spurred by the fans yet they failed to deliver on the pitch. After series of lopsided results, Pochettino and Co. only managed to grab an entrance ticket to Europa League. All in all, the fans will be hoping that their new arena would serve them greater fortunes.

Next up, Tottenham will be on the road to the St. Mary’s Stadium to face off Southampton. The Lilywhites have secured back to back victories at home and will look to extend their winning streak to propel back into the top four, as they are only a single point adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal.
