Tottenham and Chelsea are preparing bids to bring one of Barcelona’s brightest talents to the Premier League. While many would think that this would be one of the first team players, both sides are actually looking to sign a youth product from the Catalan giants.

sport.es, a Spanish news source, claims that the Premier League clubs are looking to sign Marc Cucurella. The 18-year-old plays as a left-back for the youth team of the La Liga champions and actually started his career with arch-rivals Espanyol.

The 18-year-old is one of the best youngsters from the current crop of La Masia players and it will be interesting to see if the Premier League clubs can pry him away from Spain. There might be a chance of getting him since Barcelona are known to let their stars go with a buyback clause, something they exercised with Denis Suarez this season.

Cucurella has been part of the system for almost six years and the reason why both clubs might be able to bring him away from Spain is the fact that his contract ends this summer. While a youngster might prefer to stay in his own country and hone his skill, Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte can surely convince the youngster to join their respective sides.

The La Masia graduate has been scouted by both clubs and it could only be a matter of time before a formal move is made to sign the player up.

Another La Masia player at Tottenham?

Most Tottenham fans will remember Giovanni Dos Santos. The Mexican had joined the club from Barcelona and while a lot was expected from him, the striker couldn’t adjust to life in the Premier League all that easily.

Tottenham will hope that Cucurella can make the transition easier and they do have a great coach who can work well with youngsters. Also, Tottenham already have a couple of good left-backs and bringing the Spaniard in will only increase the competition and ensure they have quality in the upcoming seasons.

There still is a lot of work to be done before we can see the Barcelona youngster at Tottenham but it will be interesting to see if the Whites can beat the Blues to the signing of the talent. If Pochettino can bring Cucurella in, it will certainly be a great coup for a side that isn’t at the top of the Premier League but is certainly getting better with each game under their manager.
