Tottenham bid £23million for 21-goal French striker – report

Tottenham have made a £23million bid for Alassane Plea of Nice, according to reports from France. RMC (h/t The Sun) claims that we have made a move for the former France U21 striker and the deal is moving “closer and closer”.

The 25-year-old was the second highest scorer for Nice last season as he scored 21 goals in all competitions for the Ligue 1 side.

The Frenchman can play either as the centre-forward or as a winger and would provide us with some cover for Harry Kane ahead of the new season.

We still have not made any moves in the summer window and need to bring in someone as the Premier League season is fast approaching.

£23million isn’t too much money to spend for a decent striker and if Mauricio Pochettino can get the Frenchman firing, we might just have one of the bargain signings of the season.

Plea won’t be starting many games for us and if he does move to London, he would be a squad player for us. But working with Pochettino might help him reach his potential at Tottenham.

The 25-year-old might not be the youngest player we are being linked with but maybe bringing in some experience will help us out as we look to rest Kane and win some trophies next season.
