Tottenham’s plan of waiting until the last moment to sign Jack Grealish has backfired as the Mirror reports that the new owners of Aston Villa are not looking to sell their star youngster.
Grealish was one of Tottenham’s targets for the summer and the report claimed that Daniel Levy was expecting Villa to fall into more financial trouble. But that has not worked out as the club was sold to Egyptian billionaire Nassef Sawiris and American Wes Edens.
The pair has a net worth estimated to be £40billion and the pair saved the Championship side from going into administration.
A source was also quoted by the Mirror as claiming that the deal for Grealish could have been done a couple of weeks ago but the new owners are now looking to rebuild the side.
“Spurs could have pushed the button on this two weeks ago before the takeover. They didn’t. And now the owners have said that neither he, nor James Chester is going anywhere.”
This will come as a huge blow to us as we could have wrapped up the deal for Grealish for a fee of £20m. But our time-wasting has certainly cost us a player that could have become a quality one under Mauricio Pochettino.

Tottenham have not yet signed a single player this summer and the Premier League starts in less than two weeks. The transfer window also closes early and unless we pull off a miracle, we won’t be signing a marquee player in the summer.
