Pochettino wants Tottenham star to share World Cup experience with the team

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino wants World Cup winner Hugo Lloris to share with his club teammates the experience of becoming a World Champion.

Lloris led France to a 4-2 win over Croatia in the World Cup final and Pochettino even joked that the French keeper now calls himself a “World Champion”.

The manager was quoted by the Mirror as saying:

“Hugo is in a very good mood, of course — it’s impossible not to be in that way. It’s difficult to manage him, eh? You cannot talk to him in the same way as before. Now he says ‘I am world champion!’”

Pochettino then claimed that Lloris is humble and that winning the title is great for the keeper.

“Now we have the captain who is the world champion, the one who lifted the trophy. That is, I think, a fantastic experience for him to translate to our team.”

Lloris was not the only Tottenham star to do extremely well at the World Cup as Harry Kane won the Golden Boot in Russia.

While Tottenham did not sign any player in the summer window, Pochettino was upbeat about the team’s chances this season.

The manager was also quoted by the Mirror as saying that the club can still improve and get better this time around.

“It’s good that they feel that we are all together, the same team as last season and we can all fight for big things and show to everyone that we have a very good squad and very good team and the players can still improve.”

The first game of the season for us is against Newcastle today and with us keeping all of our top stars at the club this season, we could finish higher than last season.

It will also be important for us to win a trophy and with Lloris and Kane tasting success at an international level, their experience could help the club as well.
