Daniel Levy has claimed that the delay in launching our new stadium is “disappointing, costly and frustrating” but believes the club will provide something extraordinary to the fans.
Tottenham were expected to inaugurate the stadium after the international break against Liverpool. However, safety concerns have prevented the club from confirming the date of completion.
Spurs will further play Manchester City on 29th October at Wembley, a day later than proposed, due to an NFL game taking place at the stadium on 28th October.
Speaking to Tottenham’s website (h/t Guardian), Levy claimed that missing the 15th September deadline has been a huge problem for the club.
“The consequences of not being able to open our stadium on 15 September against Liverpool have been immense.
“We are facing many issues, but although disappointing, costly and frustrating, I am uncompromising in my determination to deliver something extraordinary to our fans.”
The Guardian further added that Levy couldn’t share dates for the test events and the opening game for our new stadium.
While work continues on the stadium, Tottenham will play the home Champions League group matches at Wembley too.
The Guardian claims that our home games against Inter Milan and PSV Eindhoven would take place in November at Wembley but we could be playing our Premier League home games in our new stadium.
