Harry Kane was back amongst the goals as we defeated Brighton by a scoreline of 2-1. This was Kane’s first goal since the 3-0 win over Manchester United and it stopped our slide of three consecutive losses too.
The striker marked Kane’s 143rd goal for Tottenham and Match of the Day shared a stat that put things into perspective.
That was Harry Kane’s 143rd goal for Spurs in all competitions, meaning he’s level with Jermain Defoe as the joint-fifth top scorer for the club.

Kane has achieved this feat by playing just 216 games for the club while Defoe managed the same number of goals by playing 363 matches.
The only players above the England captain now are Jimmy Greaves, Bobby Smith, Martin Chivers and Cliff Jones.
The next target for the English striker would be to get past Jones, who scored 159 goals. If the 25-year-old bangs them in like he normally does, he should overtake Jones this season.
Kane has been incredible since becoming a regular for Tottenham and has top-scored for the club in the last four seasons.
Last season saw his best goal tally with 41 in all competitions but we haven’t seen the striker at his sharpest in this campaign.
The 25-year-old was the top scorer in the World Cup as well and he does need a break to recharge his batteries.

Kane is possibly the best striker in the world and there is no doubt he will be our all-time top scorer soon.
