Fernando Llorente hasn’t seen a lot of starts at Tottenham this season. The only game the Spaniard started was the League Cup win over West Ham where he scored a goal.
However, the 33-year-old’s cameo against PSV Eindhoven helped us win 2-1. Spurs were trailing 1-0 in the Champions League tie and Llorente helped Harry Kane score one of the goals.
However, this doesn’t seem to be enough for the striker as he recently claimed he would like a return to Spain.
Llorente joined us from Swansea a few years ago and was speaking to Spanish outlet Sport (h/t Sun):
“I’ve been away from home for many years, I’d love to go back to the Spanish league.
“I came in and things went well, so I’m happy to have helped the team.
“I hope I continue to have opportunities, it’s important for me because it gives me the confidence to keep working.
“It’s not easy when you do not play because mentally you have to be very strong to continue training hard.”
It certainly is difficult giving the Spaniard starts when we only play with one striker on the pitch. Kane is our top attacker and there is no way anyone can replace the Englishman in our starting XI.

Llorente hasn’t been the greatest backup striker to Kane and losing him next season would not be a huge miss. All we need is someone who can come in and give the Englishman a rest once every few games.
