Tottenham to fight it out with AC Milan for West Brom’s Nathan Ferguson
Tottenham Hotspur face competition from AC Milan for West Bromwich Albion full-back, Nathan Ferguson. Milan scouts were present at Wigan on Wednesday keeping an eye on the young Englishman who is out of contract this summer.
The 19-year-old Ferguson has been at the Hawthorns since the age of 8. He made his first-team debut this August in a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest.
He mas made 18 appearances for the Baggies this season and has scored a goal and an assist. His performances have also earned him a call-up to the England U-20 side, for whom he has made 4 appearances.
His performances this season have convinced Baggies manager Slaven Bilic to make Ferguson to a first-team regular.
A defensive rebuild on the cards?
Tottenham have not had a dependable right-back since Kyle Walker moved to Manchester City. Kieran Trippier and Kyle Walker-Peters have both played there with varying levels of success. In the current roster, Mourinho seems to favour Serge Aurier, with Danny Rose finding himself out of favour.
With players such as Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderwiereld’s contracts expiring at the end of the season, Mourinho needs to rebuild the defence in the summer. Ferguson can play on both flanks and at 19 years of age, he can turn out to be the long-term right-back solution that Spurs have been craving for.
With Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth already at the club, Ferguson can add to a young defensive core going into the next decade.

With his contract running out, West Brom could lose Ferguson for a paltry compensation in the summer (h/t Dailymail). Tottenham must take advantage of it to get one over Milan by making an offer in January.
