Jose Mourinho hints at a silent January transfer window at Tottenham
According to Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has ruled out any signings in the January transfer window.
The Portuguese manager was quoted saying that he does not expect there to be any signings made this window.
“In January, I do not need or expect any players”
The news will be alarming for Spurs fans, especially on the back of suffering an abject 2-0 loss to top-four rivals Chelsea.
With the distance from the top-four now six points, it is a risky move for us not to compete in the January window, especially with our rivals looking likely to invest.
With the squad seeming to lack motivation, fresh blood would be needed to keep up with our rivals. Liverpool, who are currently leading the table, have already announced the signing of Japanese playmaker Takumi Minamino (h/t Guardian), while Manchester City will look to find cover for Aymeric Laporte at centre-back. Spurs have a number of first-team stars who are out of contract in the summer. Toby Alderweireld has already signed an extension and Mourinho hopes that Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen will follow suit. (h/t Mirror)

With our rivals looking to be proactive in the transfer market, we cannot afford to let the gap between us and the top-four widen.
A couple of signings in key areas this January should help a resurgent Spurs side go all out in the race for fourth place.
