Jack Clarke to return to Tottenham after a dismal loan spell at Leeds
Tottenham Hotspur are set to terminate Jack Clarke’s loan deal at Leeds United. (h/t Daily Mail) The 19-year-old winger who was signed by Spurs for £11million in the summer from Leeds, was loaned back to the West Yorkshire outfit in the hopes of him obtaining regular game time.
However, this hasn’t gone to plan, with Clarke playing just 19 minutes in the championship this season. With the move failing to meet expectations, Tottenham are set to recall the youngster.
The news was confirmed by Leeds CEO Angus Kinnear in the match-day programme ahead of Leeds’ clash with Preston North End. (h/t Daily Mail)
“We thank Jack Clarke for his services and wish him the best of luck in his career as Spurs have confirmed, due to lack of playing time, he will be recalled in the January window.’
Clarke is seen as a prospect for the future and is unlikely to feature for Tottenham this season. With the likes of Fulham and Brentford showing interest in the youngster, Clarke could be set for another spell in the championship. (h/t Daily Mail)
Brentford is the most likely destination, considering Fulham already have five players on loan. Championship rules limit the selection of more than 5 loanees in a matchday squad, the very same problem Clarke had to face at Leeds. (h/t Championship)
