Tottenham must make an ‘irrefutable’ offer to sign Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to make newer offensive additions in the summer in their bid to push for a Champions League spot next season after finishing fifth last time around and have identified Real Madrid star Brahim Diaz as a potential target.

The North Londoners are keeping tabs on Real Madrid star Brahim Diaz after he enjoyed a solid campaign under Carlo Ancelotti last season on the way to winning the Champions League.

However, according to Spanish publication Fichajes, the Moroccan international wants to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu despite Kylian Mbappe’s arrival and only an ‘irrefutable’ offer could change things.

Brahim Diaz played over 2000 minutes last season, scoring 12 times and providing nine assists in all competitions, as per Fichajes, proving to be a vital wildcard off the bench for the Whites.

Tottenham’s interest in him comes as no surprise. The former AC Milan loanee is terrific in the creative department and can more than contribute to the goals in the final third as well.

Brahim, however, will be expected to be a key part of Ancelotti’s plans next season in terms of squad depth after Joselu has departed Real Madrid and hence, wants to stay in Spain.

Real Madrid are also under no pressure to sell players for financial reasons and will not entertain an offer from Brahim Diaz unless he explicitly asks to leave in the summer.

The 15-time European champions will also not let go of Brahim Diaz easily, and it would take an attractive financial offer for them to part with their differential asset.

With that said, the ex-Manchester City superstar would also expect to be paid very handsomely if indeed he is supposed to join Spurs from Madrid.

In fairness, Tottenham will need to do something out of the box to sign Brahim Diaz as their positioning is currently currently very weak.

They have not played in the Champions League for a few years (and will not participate in 2024/25), while financially, they are unlikely to match Real Madrid’s expectations.

It remains to be seen which players Ange Postecoglou decides to pursue alternately to Brahim Diaz, though there are already a number of young options available in the market.
