Another midfield signing? Tottenham eye Rennes’ sensation Desire Doue

With a signature for one highly-rated midfielder in the bag, Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on landing another, and they will go shopping in France as the North Londoners look to sign Rennes’ attacking midfielder, Desire Doue.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Spurs’ interest in French talent Doue

Spurs show strong interest in Desire Doue.

Desire Doue is a highly regarded talent and has caught the attention of multiple elite clubs across the continent. Spurs look at him as a valuable addition to Ange Postecoglou‘s roster, as they expect him to tick all the boxes in their recent transfer policy of bringing high-potential talents to the N17.

Romano insists that the North Londoners have already gotten in touch with Doue’s representatives, conveying their genuine interest and clarifying the fact that he is indeed a priority target at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Speaking in an interview with Playback TV, Fabrizio said:

“Tottenham have a genuine interest in Desire Doue. He’s one of the players appreciated by the Tottenham board. Desire Doue is one of the best talents in his position. He’s on the lists of several clubs, including Tottenham. It’s true that Desire Doue is another player they are considering internally. They have already expressed their interest to the agents of the player. So Desire Doue is one to watch for Tottenham.”

Desire Doue has taken significant strides forward throughout the recently concluded season at Rennes, a club he has called home since he was five. The 19-year-old penned down his first professional contract at Roazhon Park in April 2022, making his Ligue 1 debut in August of the same year.

Doue has a versatile profile that can be used in multiple facets of the game, something the Australian tactician will greatly appreciate if Spurs were to land him this summer. Having already brought in Archie Gray, Tottenham can future proof yet another key spot on their roster should they sign Doue.
