Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed that a meeting between midfielder Luka Modric and chairman Daniel Levy will take place on Thursday.
Speculation that the 25-year-old playmaker will be leaving Spurs this summer has been doing the round since the culmination of the Premier League season.
Chelsea had a £22m offer rejected while the player himself has admitted he wants to join the Blues in order to fulfill his ambitions.
Redknapp confirmed that a meeting between the two parties will take place but insisted that it doesn’t mean the Croatian will be leaving Spurs
“I believe Daniel is meeting Luka (on Thursday),” Redknapp told the London Evening Standard.
“It’s difficult when crazy sums of money are being bandied about but we need to keep Luka and all our best players if we are to improve.
“If we want to continue to challenge the top clubs in the Premier League then we simply have to get stronger – not weaker.
“Luka is a fantastic player and we need to keep him at the club. We certainly don’t want to sell him.”
