Tottenham have reportedly lodged a £12.3m bid for Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Granero.
The 24-year-old is currently out of favour with Madrid having started only eight games from his nineteen league appearances last season.
Manager Jose Mourinho is keen to free-up funds having signed Nuri Sahin, Fabio Coentrao and Raphael Varane this summer.
Liverpool and Arsenal were reportedly keen on the Spanish international but were forced to re-think their plans as Madrid value the player so highly.
Some media outlets expect Granero to be a replacement for want-away midfielder Luka Modric.
However, an injury that Brazilian international Sandro picked up while with Brazil for the Copa America will further strengthen Spurs’ resolve to keep the 25-year-old.
