Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has insisted that any transfer request handed in by want-away midfielder Luka Modric will not change the clubs stance on the players.
Reports today suggest that the 25-year-old handed in a transfer request in order to force through a move to Chelsea.
Redknapp however insists that the Croatian hasn’t handed in any formal request and the club wouldn’t change their stance on the situation.
“We know he wants to leave, whether he writes it down on a piece of paper doesn’t really make any difference to our stance,” he told BBC Sport.
“He’s a great player and we don’t want to lose him.”
Spurs are currently on a pre-season tour of South Africa and Redknapp believes that Modric will continue to act in a professional manner while with the rest of the squad.
“Hopefully he will go away and get a bit of football now and just get on with it,” he added.
“We hope that he will come back and get ready for the new season.”
Modric is currently 14 months into a 6-year deal he signed with Spurs last summer.
