Brazilian midfielder Sandro is facing three months on the sidelines following successful surgery on his knee.
The Tottenham midfielder suffered a torn lateral meniscus while with the Brazil squad for the Copa America.
And after travelling back to England to have the injury assesed, the 20-year-old underwent surgery to cure the problem.
However, the intial prognosis is that Sandro will now be unable to partake in full training for another three months as part of the rehabilitation process.
“Following consultation with an independent knee specialist, Sandro underwent surgery on his left knee in London this evening (Friday).,” a statement on the clubs official site said.
It added: “The specialist has advised a three-month rehabilitation period before a return to full training.”
The former Internacional player was originally expected to sit-out for a month while his injury will give manager Harry Redknapp a further selection headache especially with the ongoing transfer saga surrounding Luka Modric
