Reported Newcastle United target Jermain Defoe has distanced himself from a potential move up North claiming he would turn down a potential move to St. James’ Park.
The Tottenham forward has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer after a poor season that was hampered by injury and less than impressive form.
However, any hopes of a move to Newcastle were dashed by the England international, who has also been linked with a move to rivals Sunderland.
The Magpies have also been linked with a move for team-mate Peter Crouch but manager Alan Pardew is said to have baulked at the £9m asking price for the 30-year-old.
