Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe is keen to link up with new signing Emmanuel Adebayor as he believes the Togolese forward can bring the best out of the England international.
The pair were both on target during the weekend’s 2-0 win over Wolves after the 27-year-old completed his long protracted loan move to White Hart Lane before the close of the window.
Defoe managed just four league goals last season but he is convinced that the former Arsenal striker can help improve on last season’s tally.
He is brilliant. I was looking forward to it [playing with him] even before he came,” Defoe told Spurs’ official website.
“There was a lot of speculation that he was coming and I just thought to myself ‘please let it happen’ because he is a great player.
“He’s quick, he can head it, he is strong and he is a good finisher.
“He can do everything. Him being there freed me up a bit because it allowed me to drop deep, get the ball and beat players so it was good.”
