Spurs facing tough trip to Baggies

Tottenham look to extend their excellent unbeaten run as they travel to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon.

The North London outfit managed to make it eight wins out of nine on Monday night following the excellent 2-0 win over Aston Villa.

The Baggies, on the other hand, defeated Bolton Wanderers 2-1 and are currently languishing in tenth place, seven places and 11 points behind Spurs who sit pretty in third.

Manager Harry Redknapp faces a further selection headache this weekend with the news that both Rafael Van der Vaart (hamstring) and Jermain Defoe (groin) are struggling to be fit for the encounter.

It leaves only Emmanuel Adebayor and Roman Pavlyuchenko as the only two fit registered strikers available to Redknapp.

Meanwhile, Niko Kranjcar (thigh), Danny Rose (ankle), Michael Dawson (Achilles) and Tom Huddlestone (ankle) will all certainly miss the encounter.

Potential starting XI:

Friedel; Walker, Kaboul, King, Assou-Ekotto; Parker, Sandro, Lennon, Modric, Bale; Adebayor

Key Battles

Should Shane Long recover in time for the fixture, he is likely to work tirelessly to trouble the Spurs defence and Younes Kaboul will have to be on top of his game if he is to keep the Irishman’s input to a minimum.

Ben Foster will also need to be on top of his game if he is to keep Emmanuel Adebayor at bay, especially after the Togolese hit a brace in the 2-0 win over Aston Villa last week while Nicky Shorey will have his hands full if he is to keep a rejuvenated Aaron Lennon at bay.
