It wasn’t so long ago that Emmanuel Adebayor was scoring goals for one of the biggest clubs on the planet – Real Madrid – in front of the near-90,000 spectators in attendance at the Santiago Bernabeu. Now, however, as Andre Villas-Boas moulds his Premier League squad into one of his liking, he is ready to send the Togolese forward on loan – to England’s second division, according to the Mirror.
It seems a shame that the talent Adebayor holds is deemed worthy enough for only the Championship, as he’s proved over the years that he can score goals at the top. In total, for between his former clubs – Metz, Monaco, Arsenal, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Spurs, the 29-year-old has scored 160 goals.
But it’s his attitude that has proved him downfall. Rather than looking for another club in the summer, which Villas-Boas has told the press that he was welcome to, the forward’s insistence to sit on the mega money that he is on at White Hart Lane has meant that he’s been training with the reserve squad of late.
Harry Redknapp apparently wants to add to his already incredible squad and recruit his former employee, but with Adebayor on a reported £160,000-per-week in wages, Spurs are said to be unlikely to let him leave unless a healthy chunk of that is being paid.
Still, he always has a career in the media to fall back on, eh?
