Tottenham are going through a transitional stage right now. The sale of Gareth Bale allowed them to splash out this summer and reinforce their squad with a wealth of new faces. Because of this, players have started missing out on first team football. Although this isn’t the club’s fault, nor is it AVB’s, it is happening. Here are three players who I believe should be playing more football, be it at White Hart Lane or elsewhere.
1) Brad Friedel
Following on from the intro, Spurs fans probably won’t feel as though the American is being wasted as they have a stronger alternative between the sticks. However, Friedel still has what it takes to operate at the top level, we saw that last season, and I find it a shame – although I understand the situation – that he isn’t spending his last days of his career playing games.
He is a stronger back up than Gomes is, so Villas-Boas is unlikely to let him leave.
2) Emmanuel Adebayor
In similar fashion, the Togo international is doubtful to ever play for the club again. His refusal to leave the club has seen him frozen out completely, which is a shame in my opinion. His attitude may stink, but he still has talent.
The fact that he is being wasted is probably more his fault than Spurs’, but none the less he could still be out the scoring goals for another side, perhaps abroad or at a lower level.
3) Sandro
The Brazilian had an incredible first half of the campaign last season and was unfortunate to pick up an injury. Since his return, he has played just half an hour of Premier League football this season.
The likes of Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Mousa Dembele have limited these.
