Andre Villas-Boas is apparently on the prowl once again, and it’s for another forward, apparently. The Metro are reporting that the Tottenham gaffer is watching Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi.
Gareth Bale departed the club in well-documented circumstances, and while Spurs reinvested wisely, they have still lacked the bite and purpose that the Wales international provided whilst in north London.
Lavezzi is a wide forward, primarily a left winger. He can also be deployed up top as a centre-forward, but being just 5ft8 and possessing blistering speed means that his best position in on the flanks.
This season he has created 11 chances and scored one in his eight Ligue 1 games for the capital side.
If a move was to transpire, it would mean that one of Erik Lamela, Aaron Lennon, Andros Townsend or Nacer Chadli would miss out. While Lennon is currently injured and Lamela out of form, it would likely be the latter as a result of Townsend’s form.
Gylfi Sigurdsson has surprised us all with his performances this season and also plays on the left. The Iceland international has scored three goals and created seven chances in just six appearances.
If the move happens someone is bound to be left out in the cold, but to put my finger on an individual would be a wild stab in the dark.
